Send EmailWhat are the parts of the cell?
The cell is the smallest building block of living things and consists of various parts. Here are the basic parts of the cell:
Cell Membrane: A thin membrane that surrounds the cell and separates the content from the external environment. The basic function of the cell membrane is to regulate the exchange of substances inside and outside the cell.
Cytoplasm: A gel-like liquid located inside the cell membrane, containing organelles. Cytoplasm is where chemical reactions inside the cell take place.
Nucleus: The management center of the cell. The structure where DNA is located and controls cell division and protein synthesis.
Mitochondria: The power plant of the cell. It provides energy to the cell by producing ATP.
Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER): A network structure that plays a role in intracellular substance transportation. The granular ER contains ribosomes and plays a role in protein synthesis; the granular ER plays a role in lipid synthesis.
Golgi Apparatus: It plays a role in the packaging and transportation of substances produced in the cell.
Lysosomes: These are vesicles that contain enzymes and are involved in intracellular digestion.
Ribosomes: Small structures that are involved in protein synthesis.
Chloroplasts: These are organelles found in plant cells that perform photosynthesis.
Vacuoles: These are vesicles that store water, nutrients, and waste in the cell.
These sections work together to perform the functions of the cell.
