Plastic UV Absorber, UV Stabilizer, UV Adsorber, Free Radical Scavenger, Sunlight Protector, Sun Protector

UV stabilizers are chemical compounds used to prevent the degradation of polymers when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. These stabilizers extend the lifespan of polymers and improve their appearance. UV stabilizers combat the degradation that polymers may experience due to exposure to sunlight, UV rays, temperature, and oxygen.

How UV Stabilizers Work:

  • UV Absorbers: Absorb UV energy and convert it into heat, which is then dissipated through the substrate. Benzophenones and benzotriazole derivatives are commonly used UV absorbers.

  • Free Radical Scavengers: Capture free radicals generated by UV light and neutralize them, preventing the degradation of the polymer. Hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS) are an example of this group.

Applications of UV Stabilizers:

  • Plastics: Engineering plastics such as polyamides, polyesters, and polycarbonates.

  • Furniture: Outdoor furniture and other plastic products.

  • Automotive: Interior and exterior vehicle parts.

  • Packaging Materials: Packaging for food and other products.

  • Agricultural Products: Plastics used in agriculture.

UV stabilizers help combat effects such as chemical changes in the polymer structure, surface degradation, brittleness, production of free radicals, changes in molecular weight, loss of mechanical properties, and loss of transparency.

UV stabilizers are often referred to as "sun protectors" or "sunlight protectors" for plastics. These chemicals are used to prevent plastics from degrading when exposed to sunlight. They help extend the life of outdoor furniture, car parts, agricultural products, and other items that are regularly exposed to the sun.
