Description: ATMP (Amino Trimethylene Phosphonic Acid) is one of the most widely used phosphonates. It belongs to the aminophosphonic acid family and contains three phosphonic acid groups. It exhibits excellent chelation capacity, low threshold inhibition, and high chemical stability. It has high water solubility and is stable across a wide pH range. It is widely used as a scale and corrosion inhibitor in water treatment systems, detergent formulations, textile industry, and metal surface treatment. It shows synergistic effects when used with zinc and phosphates.

Description: ATMP acts by forming stable, water-soluble complexes with metal ions. The chelation process involves the coordination of the metal ion by the three phosphonate groups and one amine nitrogen atom of the ATMP molecule. This encapsulating structure effectively "traps" the metal ion, preventing it from participating in precipitation and scale formation. ATMP exhibits a "threshold effect" which prevents scale formation at very low concentrations (1-10 ppm). Through lattice distortion, it disrupts crystal growth and prevents scale formation.
