Ammonium sulfate ((NH₄)₂SO₄) is an inorganic salt formed by the neutralization of sulfuric acid and ammonia. It appears as white crystals or granules and has high solubility in water. It contains 21% nitrogen and 24% sulfur. It is one of the most widely used nitrogen and sulfur fertilizers in agriculture, and also has diverse industrial applications in food additives (E517), water treatment, fire retardants, and laboratory applications.
