PRODUCT DESCRIPTION AND EXPLANATION:

Sodium Vinyl Sulphonate (SVS) is a vinyl sulphonate monomer that is soluble in water and organic solvents. Due to its highly reactive double bond, it can readily participate in polymerization and copolymerization reactions. The sulphonate group (-SO₃Na) imparts strong anionic character, hydrophilicity, and dispersion capability to the polymer.

This product family includes SVS as well as its potassium salt form PVS (Potassium Vinyl Sulphonate), its acid form VSA (Vinyl Sulphonic Acid), and copolymers of SVS with monomers such as acrylates and acrylamides. PVS is preferred in certain polymerization processes, while VSA is used in special applications requiring high reactivity. SVS copolymers serve as specialty dispersants and textile auxiliary chemicals.

SECTION 4: APPLICATIONS

Application Description
Textile Fiber sizing, dye fixing
Oil Recovery Fluid loss control additive
Ion Exchange Resins Capacity booster
Cement Dispersion for slump/workability improvement
Paper Coating dispersant
Polymerization Monomer for sulphonate vinyl resins
Organic Intermediate Sulfoethylation reactions
Specialty Polymers Copolymer production (SVS + acrylates)
High Reactivity Needs VSA form preferred

APPLICATIONS EXPLANATION:

Textile: SVS is used in fiber sizing and dye fixing applications. The sulphonate group imparts hydrophilicity and antistatic properties to textile fibers.

Oil Recovery: SVS is used as a fluid loss control additive in oil wells. Its high salt and temperature resistance provides stability under harsh well conditions.

Ion Exchange Resins: SVS is used to boost the capacity of ion exchange resins. The sulphonate group creates strongly acidic ion exchange sites.

Cement: SVS is used for dispersion and workability improvement in cement systems. It reduces slump loss and improves concrete workability.

Paper: SVS is used as a coating dispersant for paper. It improves the homogeneity and stability of coating mixtures.

Polymerization: SVS is used as a monomer for sulphonate vinyl resins. Due to its high reactivity, it participates in the synthesis of various copolymers.

Organic Intermediate: SVS is used as an organic intermediate in sulfoethylation reactions.

Specialty Polymers: SVS is used in copolymer production with acrylates. These copolymers serve as specialty dispersants and textile auxiliary chemicals.

SECTION 5: PACKAGING

Packaging Type Description
HMHDPE Drums 240–250 kg
ISO Tanks Large volume shipments
IBC Tanks Medium volume shipments

PACKAGING EXPLANATION:

SVS and its derivatives are shipped in 240-250 kg HMHDPE (High Molecular Weight High Density Polyethylene) drums, ISO tanks, or IBC tanks. For VSA (acid form), corrosion-resistant packaging materials must be used.

SECTION 6: STORAGE

Parameter Information
Storage Conditions Cool, dry place
Protection Protect from direct light
VSA Special Requirement Requires corrosion-resistant containers
Shelf Life Stable under proper storage conditions

STORAGE EXPLANATION:

SVS and its derivatives should be stored in a cool, dry place, protected from direct light. VSA (acid form), due to its acidic nature, must be stored in corrosion-resistant containers. Thanks to the inhibitor content, SVS monomers are protected against spontaneous polymerization under proper storage conditions.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS EXPLANATION:

Personal protective equipment such as gloves, goggles, and nose masks are mandatory when working with SVS and its derivatives. Decontamination must be performed before equipment maintenance. For VSA (acid form), acid-resistant PPE must be used. In case of skin and eye contact, wash with plenty of water.
