How is it produced?
It is a form of oil obtained from various sources including whales, coal and crude oil. Liquid Paraffin is obtained by very good refining of saturated hydrocarbons.

Paraffin Oil is recently obtained as a by-product rich in hydrocarbons during the distillation process of petroleum.

What are the Physical and Chemical Properties of Liquid Paraffin (Paraffin Oil)?
Liquid Paraffin is light liquid and transparent. It does not fluoresce in daylight.

It exhibits variable physical appearance according to different temperature parameters. Paraffin Oil is colorless, tasteless and odorless in cold conditions. It has a high flash point.

Its melting point is -24 ° C.

The boiling point is 300 ° C. It has a flash point above 300 ° C.

Paraffin Oil is soluble in Ether and slightly soluble in Ethanol. It cannot be mixed with water.

Liquid Paraffin has a density of 0.85 g/mL at 20 ° C

Where are the Areas of Use of Liquid Paraffin (Paraffin Oil)?
Among its areas of use, liquid paraffins are mostly used in the pharmaceutical industry in the manufacture of ointments, creams and lotions.
Paraffin Oil is used to give shine to the shower fiber obtained by using it together with polyethylene in the manufacture of sacks and shower fibers.
It is used in the manufacture of hair oils. Liquid Paraffin (Paraffin Oil) is used in the manufacture of perfumery compounds. It is also used in the manufacture of aerosols.
Liquid Paraffin is used in the manufacture of medical formulations.
Paraffin oil is used as an egg preservative.
Liquid paraffin is used to produce hair conditioners. It is used in the manufacture of incense and perfumes.
Paraffin Oil is used in the production of baby oil, baby cream and skin ointments.
It is used intensively in the production of face creams and skin lotions. As a result of frequent use of irritating substances such as soap, detergent and alcohol, the lipids in the skin are damaged. In this area, liquid paraffin is used to form a thin oily layer on the skin.
It is used as a mineral oil at a level of 5% in the production of wet wipes. Its lubricating feature is used.
Liquid paraffin is used to make a protective coating for fruits and vegetables.
It is used together with glycerin as a high viscosity mineral oil in the production of skin softening creams.
It is used as a coating material to make the outer surface of seeds shiny.
Paraffinic oil is used in the production of mosquito-repellent creams.
It is used as a lubricant to prevent abrasions due to the contact of moving and fixed parts.
If wooden barrels made of chestnut trees are used during wine production, wine loss will be high. The reason for this; Chestnut wood is porous and therefore evaporation is high. In wine barrels made from chestnuts, barrels are coated with paraffin to prevent excessive evaporation.
It is used in the form of oil phase in the production of roll-on deodorants.
What are its other areas of use?
It is used to benefit from its waterproof feature in order to prevent corrosion by taking advantage of its moisture removal effect.
Liquid Paraffin is used with chemicals such as Mono Propylene Glycol (USP), citric acid, essence, benzyl alcohol in the production of diaper rash cream. The purpose of use here is to soften the skin.
It is used as a corrosion prevention agent when applied as a lubricant.
It is used as a chemical component in medicines.
It is used together with Titanium Dioxide as a servo system lubricant.
In the production of eye ointments, paraffin oil is used with the active ingredient in medicines that stimulate collagen production in the treatment of damaged tissues and open wounds in the upper and middle layers of the skin.
It is a hydrocarbon used in the production of low-foaming cleaning agents.
It is used in the cosmetics sector to create an oil layer on the skin surface in the production of skin care creams.

Some harmful organisms occur in timber in wood manufacturing. These are Gloeophyllum trabeum (Gt), Poria placenta (Pp), Coniophora puteana (Cp), Antrodia vailantii (Av). In order to prevent such organisms that damage timber, timbers are impregnated. For this purpose, liquid paraffin is used together with substances such as Butyl Hydroxy Toluene (BHT), Dipropylene Glycol Mono Methyl Ether.

In the mining sector, metal dust is It is a hydrophobic substance used with a surfactant to prevent water retention.
