Locron S Flakes are a specialized raw material used in the textile industry, primarily for creating hydrophobic (water-repellent) finishes on fabrics. These flakes are made from aluminium hydroxychloride (basic aluminium chloride) and are easily soluble in water. When combined with waxes and paraffin, Locron S Flakes help produce high-quality hydrophobic dispersions that can be applied to textiles to make them water-resistant.
Appearance: Fine flakes.
Chemical Composition: Aluminium hydroxychloride (Al₂(OH)₅Cl·2-3 H₂O).
pH: 3.8 – 4.2 (in a 30% aqueous solution).
Solubility: Readily soluble in water.
Storage Stability: At least 2 years.
Preparation:
Dissolve 67 parts of Locron S Flakes in 675 parts of hot water (90-95°C).
Add 16 parts of sodium acetate and stir until a homogeneous solution is achieved.
Pump the solution through a high-pressure homogenizer.
Add a wax mixture (consisting of Licowax LP 1, Paraffin 48/50, and Belsil CM 020 2) that has been melted at 90°C.
Homogenize the dispersion 2-3 times at 100-150 bar or higher.
Application on Textiles:
For water-repellent finishes: Use 5-10 g/l of a 30% dispersion.
For hydrophobic finishes: Use 50-100 g/l of a 30% dispersion.
Apply the dispersion at room temperature with a liquor pick-up of 70-90%.
Dry the fabric for 60 seconds at 100-120°C.
If using resin finishes, fix the fabric for 90 seconds at 150°C after drying.
The product should be tested for compatibility with other finishing agents.

Locron S Flakes, also known as aluminum chlorohydrate, is a widely used antiperspirant agent in the cosmetic industry. It works by forming a gel-like layer on the skin's surface, which temporarily blocks sweat ducts and reduces perspiration. Here are some key details about Locron S Flakes:
Appearance: White or slightly yellow flakes.
Solubility: Soluble in water up to approximately 60% (m/m), almost insoluble in absolute ethanol.
pH: Approximately 4.2 (15% aqueous solution).
Composition: Aluminum chlorohydrate (Al2Cl(OH)5).
Antiperspirants and Deodorants: Used in various formulations such as roll-ons, pump sprays, emulsions, and gels.
Skin Care Products: Incorporated into skin lotions, creams, and shaving lotions for a mild astringent effect.
Water Treatment: Utilized as a coagulant in water purification processes.

Locron S Flakes, also known as aluminum chlorohydrate, has several important applications, primarily in the cosmetic and personal care industry. Here are some key uses:
Antiperspirants and Deodorants: Locron S Flakes is widely used in antiperspirant and deodorant formulations. It works by forming a gel-like layer on the skin's surface, which temporarily blocks sweat ducts and reduces perspiration. This helps to keep the skin dry and reduces body odor.
Skin Care Products: Locron S Flakes is used in various skin care products, such as lotions, creams, and aftershave lotions. It provides a mild astringent effect, which can help tighten the skin and reduce the appearance of pores.
Water Treatment: In the water treatment industry, Locron S Flakes is used as a coagulant. It helps to remove impurities and suspended particles from water by causing them to clump together and settle out of the water.
Textile Industry: Locron S Flakes can be used in the textile industry for various processes, such as fabric finishing and dye fixation. It helps improve the quality and durability of textiles.
