SurTec® 177 Electrolytical Cleaner is a highly alkaline, non-foaming, and cyanide-free cleaning powder designed for both iron and nonferrous metals, including copper and its alloys. It is suitable for both cathodic and anodic cleaning processes and offers high conductivity, making it ideal for electrolytic cleaning applications.
Appearance: White powder.
Bulk Density: Approximately 0.960 kg/l.
pH Value: Approximately 13 (at 10 g/l).
Ingredients: Silicates, sodium hydroxide, and carbonates.
Conductivity: High conductivity, suitable for electrolytic cleaning.
Safety: Cyanide-free and non-foaming.
Make-Up Value: 6-8% (concentration in the cleaning bath).
Temperature: 20-40°C.
Application Time: 1-10 minutes.
Pre-Cleaning: For some applications, pre-cleaning with SurTec 151 may be necessary.
Sample Preparation: Take a bath sample from a homogeneously mixed position and let it cool to room temperature. If the sample is turbid, let the turbidity settle and decant or filter the solution.
Titration Analysis:
Reagents: 1 mol/l hydrochloric acid or 0.5 mol/l sulfuric acid.
Indicator: Methyl orange solution (0.04%).
Procedure:
Pipette 10 ml of the bath sample into a 250 ml Erlenmeyer flask.
Dilute with deionized water to approximately 100 ml.
Add 3-4 drops of the indicator.
Titrate with 1 N acid until the solution turns from yellow to orange/red (pH 4.0).
Calculation: Acid consumption in ml × 0.52 = % SurTec 177.
Recommended Stock: 50 kg of SurTec 177 per 1,000 liters of bath to prevent production delays.
Safety Data: Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for classification, safety instructions, and environmental protection guidelines.
