Perapret® PU New liq is a polyurethane-based binder developed by Archroma for the finishing of textiles, particularly for use in Archroma's Color Fast Finish process. It is suitable for both woven and knitted fabrics made of cotton and its blends with synthetic fibers. The product enhances fabric properties such as tear strength, tensile strength, abrasion resistance, and shape recovery, while also reducing pilling and creasing tendencies. It is formaldehyde-free and does not contain organotin compounds, making it environmentally friendly.

Key Features:

• Appearance: White, aqueous dispersion.

• Chemical Composition: Polyurethane dispersion.

• Ionic Character: Anionic.

• Dilution: Miscible with cold water in all proportions.

• Compatibility: Compatible with most finishing agents, except cationic products and strongly acidic catalysts.

• Storage Stability: Can be stored in sealed containers at 5°C to 30°C for at least 6 months. Opened containers should be used quickly and resealed properly.

Applications:

1. Finishing Without Pigments:

   • Improves tear strength, tensile strength, abrasion resistance, and shape recovery.

   • Reduces pilling and creasing tendencies.

   • Provides a fuller fabric handle with larger application amounts.

   • Offers good wash and dry-cleaning fastness.

2. Finishing With Pigments (Color Fast Finish):

   • Used as a binder for finishing textiles with Printofix® Pigment preparations.

   • Can be combined with Arkophob® XLR liq to achieve deeper shades.

   • Perapret® FWT liq c can be used for pale shades with good wash and rub fastness.

Application Conditions:

• Padding Operation: Applied at room temperature with a liquor pick-up of 60-90% for non-pigment finishes and up to 65% for pigment finishes.

• Drying and Curing: Typically dried and cured at 120°C to 175°C.

• Guideline Recipes:

  • Low Formaldehyde Finishing (Woven Cotton):

    • 1-2 g/l Imerol® JET-B liq c

    • 20-100 g/l Perapret® PU New liq

    • 30-50 g/l Fixapret® ECO liq c

    • 20-30 g/l Solusoft® SiH liq

    • 8-10 g/l Magnesium chloride crystals.

    • Liquor pick-up: 70%.

    • Curing: 45 seconds at 170°C.

  • Chintz Finishing:

    • 2 g/l Imerol® JET-B liq c

    • 50-100 g/l Perapret® PU New liq

    • 30-60 g/l Fixapret® ECO liq c

    • 20-30 g/l Solusoft® SiH liq

    • 8-12 g/l Magnesium chloride crystals.

    • Liquor pick-up: 70%.

    • Drying: 100°C - 120°C.

    • Calendering: 200-300 N/mm.

    • Curing: 45 seconds at 170°C.

  • Color Fast Finish (Woven Cotton):

    • 2-3 g/l Imerol® JET-B liq c

    • 4-6 g/l Perapret® PFA liq

    • 20 g/l Perapret® FA liq

    • 60-100 g/l Perapret® PU New liq

    • 3-50 g/l Printofix® Pigment preparations.

    • 6-10 g/l Arkophob® XLR liq

    • pH: 7.

    • Liquor pick-up: 65%.

    • Curing: 45 seconds at 170°C - 175°C.

Important Notes:

• Imerol® JET-B liq c is recommended as a non-foaming wetting agent in resin and pigment finishing.

• The pH of the finishing liquor should be adjusted to 5.0 with acetic acid when using a crosslinker (Fixapret® ECO liq c).

• For pigment finishes, the liquor temperature should not exceed 35°C, and constant stirring is required to prevent pigment settling.

• Arkophob® XLR liq solutions should be used within 4 hours.

• Adequate curing is essential for good wash and rub fastness.

• Machine downtime should be minimized, especially when using Arkophob® XLR liq.
