Source:
Natural color is also available in many foods such as milk, eggs, liver and vegetables. Commercially prepared from yeasts, thus synthetically produced.

Function and Properties:
Yellow food colorant. Very insoluble in water.

Acceptable daily intake:
0.5 mg/kg body weight.

Side effects:
No known side effects in the concentrations used in foods.

Limitations of use:
None; E101 can be consumed by all religious groups, vegans and vegetarians. Although it is produced from milk, this is not commercially made.
